3 Simple Tips to Improve Your Basketball Game
Basketball can be one of the most rewarding sports to play, but it’s also one of the most challenging to master. To improve your basketball game, you’ll need to practice constantly, develop good form, and learn how to react quickly to unexpected on-court situations. To help you out with all three, follow these three simple tips to improve your basketball game.
1) Practice
The key to getting better at basketball is spending as much time on your jump shot, free throws, and dribbling. After all, these are what will separate you from other players. You can practice them in front of a mirror or record yourself and watch your form for any flaws that you can then work on correcting.
2) Warm-Up
One of your biggest enemies is muscle tightness. Sure, stretching doesn’t sound too exciting (and it isn’t). But if you spend most of your day sitting down, any amount of active time is going to be a shock to your system. With that in mind, as soon as you get out onto that court, it’s important that you warm up by doing some low-intensity running or jumping jacks—anything to help those muscles loosen up.
3) Equipment
Most basketballs in stores are inflatable, which means they’re able to be filled with air. A quality basketball should weigh between 20 and 22 ounces, so if your ball feels a little too light or a little too heavy—too hard to dribble or bounce on—you may need a new one. Alternatively, try re-inflating it until you find its sweet spot.
